Our team is developing Instagram Go, a new extension for Instagram that aims to get users active and going outdoors. During our ideation and brainstorming process, we kept landing on ideas that centered around merging fitness and creativity. We wanted to take a new spin on self motivation, a challenge we’ve all felt, especially during the pandemic. There are already a lot of fitness apps out there. Strava and Map My Run are huge and companies like Nike and Underarmour have their own as well. Rather than start something from scratch and begin a massive uphill climb, we decided it was best to build something out of an already existing app. We landed on Instagram, one of the world’s most widely used apps. Our goal was to make a fitness feature for Instagram, thus fulfilling our goal of merging creativity and activity.
